Thank you to everyone that has been following our 2019 launch! If you made your way through launch video #1 where we went over the top things you wanted to see improved in the 2019 gear and blog #2 where I shared how I transformed into a bike commuter, you are definitely an INSIDER (it pays to be on this list)! We are going to pay you back for sticking with us!
We know you are getting excited about this year’s products and so are we. We are only about a week or two away from being able to ship the new gear!
But first, I want to share with you why we do all this in the first place!
The Problem with Bike Commuting…
The truth is that there are plenty of bike bag companies out there. There are also a wack of options for business bags. But there are no (or at least very few) companies that combine both and do it extremely well.
Any seasoned bike commuter will tell you that when they started carrying gear on their bike, it was a revelation. You don’t have to sweat it out with a backpack and if your carrying a lot, that lower back is taking a major beating!…It’s a good thing bikes are designed for carrying more than just your butt!
The problem with most bike bags (or panniers that go on your bike), is that they just aren’t designed for when you are off the bike.
- There are lots of other panniers that will work great on your bike (Here are 12). But they will be absolutely awkward to carry around (It’s crazy that most pannier companies don’t think much about you after you lock up your bike).
- There are no (or very few) bike bags with organization for taking your laptop and business accessories (sometimes even a full suit). Commuters need this stuff! Why isn’t this standard?
- Most bike bags are ugly. Period.
How we can help
We want to equip you with the tools and resources to have an awesome commute. Your gear should be easy to use, look good both on and off your bike and be ready for when you stroll into the office, campus or coffeehouse.
When you win your commute, you win the day.
Now, we are going to take you for a quick behind-the-scenes tour of the Two Wheel Gear booth at the BC Bike Show where we first revealed the 2019 products to real live humans!
Welcome to the BC Bike Show
I know you couldn’t all make it out to Vancouver just for the reveal of the new gear so I thought I would take you there! We shot this short behind-the-scenes video specifically for you.
You will literally see people doing front flips with excitement and of course an overly enthusiastic Reid inviting you right into the booth like you were there with us!
top questions from commuters at the show
After checking out our booth, I bet you have a few key questions. Let’s answer the top ones here that we received from the bike commuters at the show.
Is it waterproof?
The true definition of “Waterproof“ is about submersion. Our bags are as close as you can get without being an ugly rubber kayak bag or having a gross rubber liner. Yes, our bags are made of waterproof materials and our zippers are carefully designed to be protected under cover flaps. But the bags cannot be submerged underwater without that slippery little devil penetrating the seams or zippers. That is where your rain cover comes in.
Does it come with the rain cover?
Yes, it’s a trademark in every Two Wheel Gear bag. We are based in the coastal mountains of Vancouver, BC. It rains a lot here. All of our gear needs to be absolutely solid or we would be chased out of town…quite literally. The fluorescent green rain cover is customized for each bag and included with purchase.
Won’t your back get dirty converting a pannier to a backpack?
Well no. I suppose it could. I mean it’s possible. But doesn’t happen often.
Our materials wipe clean with a swipe of EZ Pull change room towel. On fair weather days the bag will arrive pristine clean.
But anything that goes on your bike can get dirty. A little common sense goes a long way. Regular panniers get your clothes dirty too. In most cases, you probably didn’t ruin your pants (“the very pants you were returning” Seinfeld quote) after banging that old pannier on your slacks.
Let’s just say we have yet to see a product return due to a dirty shirt.
Is it hard to ride with only one pannier?
No. Most people don’t notice at all. There are many bike forums that talk all about it. Here is a good one: BikeForums.net – Is it ok to ride with only one rear pannier?
The 2nd part of this question, “Should I get two pannier backpacks to balance it out?” Answer. Probably not. The point of a convertible backpack is to have one convenient bag (you don’t need 2 backpacks).
Will the Handlebar Bag work with my Handlebars?
Yes! Well almost definitely. The handlebar adapter comes with two sets of C-Clamps for either standard handlebars Ø 26 mm or oversize handlebars Ø 31.8 mm. You also have the option to upgrade to the Ebike version of the handlebar adapter. The wider and longer electric bike version can be mounted without getting in the way of digital displays (eg Bosch). This adapter is 25mm wider and 22mm longer than the standard handlebar adapter.
Make sure to keep an eye on your inbox! In the next email, we’ll be sending out an exciting offer. But it won’t last long and we don’t do this often. But you have to be on the list to get it (You can join here!).
Quantities in certain products are limited and once the offer is gone. Unfortunately, it’s gone…(We can only do this once at the start of the season before our new products go to our retailers).
And as always, we want to hear from you! Please leave us a comment below or hit us up on facebook. Let us know if we left out any important questions that weren’t answered at the BC Bike Show! We will get right back to you!
Talk to you all soon! Have a good ride.
