My girlfriend and I bike toured through Europe. We spent three weeks biking from Lyon, France to Sarajevo, Bosnia. The use of the pannier convertible backpack made our trip that much better.
We obviously love riding bikes and promoting bicycle commuting (that much is easy to see)….but do we unknowingly promote a stereotype that is steeped in traditional “old school” beliefs, which is more exclusive (than inclusive) and quite possibly does more to discourage everyday bike commuting than it does to encourage?

Adam has already had a morning strength training session and biked seven miles to the office — an impressive daily ritual. A system that has been ironed out. Something you might expect from a driven guy working in the U.S. Defense Department.
Since he was a kid biking with his hockey stick over his handlebars to the ice rink, Rob has been cycling pretty much his entire life. He has the battle scars and wisdom to show for it.
We tagged along on his 22 km (14 mi) ride from his home in the nearby town of Richmond into the city of Vancouver where he works.
Now, instead of his hockey stick over his handlebars, his 2-year-old daughter Emma rides in the front seat. On her face, she wears a big grin, and you can clearly see that Rob’s love of cycling is infectious.
